Depart the US from Minneapolis St. Paul (or your local airport)

Thurs, Apr 16 - DUBLIN ARRIVAL

After landing at Dublin Airport, complete customs and immigration formalities. Your CIE Tours driver/guide will welcome you to Ireland and escort you and your luggage to the coach. Stop to have breakfast with your group at a local restaurant or pub. Continue on to visit the Strokestown Park House which dates from the 17th century. This fine mansion shows the lifestyle of the affluent owners and the conditions of the servants and farmers of the area, particularly during the Famine era of the 1840s when many Irish emigrated to the United States. After your visit, transfer to your hotel in Donegal, check in & settle into your room. In the evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome drink followed by dinner in the hotel.

Fri, Apr 17 - DONEGAL SIGHTSEEING

This morning, travel to visit Glenveagh Castle, a Scottish-style baronial mansion, which contains fine antique-filled rooms. Continue on to visit Donegal Castle, which incorporates the gabled tower of a 15th century house built by the O’Donnell family. Partially restored, the castle reflects a long and turbulent history. After your visit, set off on a panoramic tour of County Donegal. Donegal, with its windswept hills where only sheep can thrive, is renowned for wool production. Head back into Donegal town and stop to visit Hanna Hats, world famous for its tweed hats, woven wool, and other fine apparel. Return to your hotel, where the balance of the day is free for individual pursuits and dining.

Sat, Apr 18 - DRUMCLIFFE CHURCHYARD

Drive to Drumcliffe Churchyard and stop to view W.B. Yeats’ grave. Travel into Sligo and stop to visit Carrowmore, the largest cemetery of megalithic tombs in Ireland. Continue your journey into Westport, check into your hotel and settle into your room. You may like to rest or explore some of the town before dining with your group in the hotel restaurant.

Sun, Apr 19– CEIDE FIELDS

Visit Ceide Fields to learn the history of this Stone Age landscape. Also, view stone-walled fields, houses and well preserved megalithic tombs that are over 5,000 years old. Return to your hotel in Westport and spend the remainder of the day at leisure to sightsee, shop and dine on your own.

Mon, Apr 20 - KYLEMORE ABBEY

Departing Westport, drive into Cong. Embark on a walking tour of the village, a place made famous by the 1952 movie of “The Quiet Man” featuring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Discover places featured in the movie & see some of the movie memorabilia in the Quiet Man Heritage Cottage. Continue on to visit Kylemore Abbey for a tour of the elegant mansion & church, set beside a tranquil lake. Walk through the magical Victorian walled garden. Transfer to your hotel, check in and enjoy some free time before this evening’s festivities.

Tonight, join in the fun and feasting at Bunratty or Knappogue Castle. Your medieval-style banquet is served in the Great Hall of the 15th century castle.

Tue, Apr 21 - CLIFFS OF MOHER

Travel along the coast of scenic County Clare and stop to visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most beloved, natural landmarks. See magical vistas, overlooking the shimmering Atlantic Ocean. Pass through the Burren, an area of rocky limestone hills where a number of unique flowers thrive. This region also contains many dolmens, prehistoric monuments formed by large limestone slabs. Return to your hotel in Ennis, where the rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities and dining.

Wed, Apr 22 - KILBEGGAN DISTILLERY

Leaving Ennis, journey into Kilbeggan and stop to visit the Kilbeggan Distillery, which was established in 1757 and is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in the world. While here, enjoy a tour and tasting of the finished product. Next, continue your travel through Ireland’s countryside into the bustling city of Dublin. Upon arrival, stop to tour Guinness Storehouse to see exhibits on how this world famous stout was first created and why it is so popular today. Finish your visit in the roof-top bar, where you can sample a draft of Guinness. Motor a short distance to your hotel, check in and settle into your room. You may like to relax or freshen up before dining with your fellow travelers in the hotel restaurant.

Thurs, Apr 23 - DUBLIN SIGHTSEEING

After breakfast, set off with a local guide who will show you around Dublin. The city has been molded through the centuries with many architectural styles, reflecting the economic, political and artistic influences. Stop to enjoy a guided tour of the Old Jameson Distillery that will give you a real appreciation for the Jameson story, from their heritage and production process to their unique, iconic taste. After, return to your nearby hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure for individual sightseeing, shopping, dining, pubs and much more.
